The Triton Winter Team traveled to Simi Valley High School for the California Winter Championships Qualifier this weekend. They were tested under extreme conditions with winds reaching over 30 miles per hour. With the opportunity to qualify for the Winter State Championships on February 11th at Arcadia High School, 5 Tritons successfully rose to the challenge.
Kamar Wilson leaped his way into the top qualifying spot at the State Championships as he notched the #1 ranked high jump in California thus far. He was also a part of the state qualifying boys 4x200m relay team.
Cyrus Prudhomme battled an intense headwind to claim his place at the State Championships in the boys 60m dash, and also anchored the qualifying 4x200m relay team, which included Gonzalo Chavez and Raymond Ortiz.
Camille Codera ran a lifetime best in the girls 60m dash to earn her trip to the State Meet. She was also the lead off leg for the girls 4x200m relay team that came just 2 seconds short of qualifying. Included on that relay team were Dajshai Bennett, Jasmine Guerrero, and Viridiana Martinez.
Other notable performances came from Erick Chavez (LJ/TJ/4x200m), Fabian Lupian (60m/4x200), Michael Chester (LJ/60m/4x200m), Khaleed Benson (60m/4x200m), Edgar Romero (60m/60mHH/300m/4x200m), and Tristan Torres (60m).
