Pacifica vs Oxnard

April 19th, 2018 - Pacifica High School

Boys Varsity

The Triton Boys defended their Gonzales Road Trophy with a decisive win against the visiting yellow jackets. Malik Sherrod was a 3 event winner as he won the 100, 110m hurdles, and broke the 40 second barrier in the 300m hurdles. He was also on the winning 4x100m relay team. Kyrie Wilson won the long jump, breaking his own school record set two weeks prior. He was also 2nd in the 200, and was on the winning 4x100m relay team. Michael Johnson won the 200, was 2nd in the 100, and was on the winning 4x100m relays team along with teammate Savonne Farmer. Jacob Guzman was a double winner taking the shot put and discus. TeammatesChristian Alejandre was 2nd in the discus and Kalani Rose was 3rd in the shot put. Brandon Lyons won the triple jump, and Michael Chester was 2nd. Jamshid Atashbar won the high jump. Ruben Ruiz was 2nd in the 1600, Brian Palomar was 2nd in the 800, and Jonathan Saucedo was 3rd in the 3200. Paul Blevins was 2nd in the 400 and 3rd in the 300m hurdles. Edgar Romero was 3rd in the 400. Fabian Lupian was 3rd in the 100. The Triton Boys Varsity team finishes their season tied for 2nd place overall in the Pacific View League. 

Girls Varsity

The Girls battled hard to defend their Gonzales Road Trophy but came up short. Senior Kierra Sherrod won both hurdles races and was 2nd overall in the 100. Kimora Pooler won the shot put and was 3rd in the discus. Gillian Serate was 2nd in the long jump, triple jump, and 300m hurdles. Samantha Tamayo was 2nd in the 200 and 3rd in the 100. Jasmine Guerrero was 2nd in the 400. Leana Magdaleno was 3rd in the 800, while teammate Kassandra Arroyo was 3rd in the 3200. The Girls finish 3rd in the Pacific View League. 

Boys JV

The JV Boys capped off their season with a dominating victory over Oxnard clinching 2nd place overall in the Pacific View League. Nohl Williams was a 4 event winner as he took 1st in the high jump, 400, and both 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Isaiah Moon won the 100 and triple jump, and was on the winning 4x100m relay team. Sebastian Cervantes was 1st in the 200m, 2nd in the 100m and was on the winning 4x100m and 4x400m relays teams. Gabriel Olivares was a double winner taking the 800 and 3200. Daniel Pierce won the 110m/300m hurdles, was 3rd in the high jump and was on the winning 4x100m relay team. Devin Aupiu was 2nd in the high jump, 2nd in the triple jump, and 3rd in the 110m hurdles. Bryan Diaz was 2nd in the 400 and 3rd in the 800, and ran on the winning 4x400m relay team. Alejandro Gonzales was the 1600m winner and 2nd in the 3200, while teammate Damien Melgoza was 2nd in the 1600. David Salazar was 3rd in the long jump. Edward Luna was 3rd in the 400. Angel Dominguez was 3rd in the 300m hurdles. Maurice Ramirez was 1st in the discus and 2nd in the shot put. Danilo Juarez was 3rd in the discus, while teammate Yoy Vasquez was 3rd in the shot put. 

Girls JV

The JV Girls captured the first ever Pacific View League Championship for a girls track and field program at Pacifica High School finishing the season undefeated with a dominating victory of Oxnard. Anissa Cason and Macey Holmes won multiple events. Anissa was 1st in the 200, 2nd in the 100, and was on the winning 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams. Macey was 1st in the triple jump, 2nd in the 400, and was also on the winning relay teams. Joanna Dam was a double winner as she won both the 800 and 1600. The Tritons swept both hurdle races with K'lian Casey, Summer Ursua, Genre Transfiguracion, Eva Toledo Ramos, and many others dominating the hurdle events. Maricela Betancourt was 2nd in the 3200. Julie Soto was 3rd in the 400. Shanelle Manalo was 3rd in the 100 and was on the winning 4x100m relay team. Alana Davis, Eva Toledo Ramos, and Brittany Salazar swept the high jump. Sofia Marquez and Shaiann Cappellucci went 1-2 in the long jump. Esmeralda Solis was 3rd in the triple jump. Ceana Mesa won both the shot put and discus, while teammates Denise Cardona and Breanna Morales went 2-3 in the shot put. Emmaly Monroy Hernandez help aid the 4x100m and 4x400m relays teams to victory. Pauline Gomez was also on the 4x400m relay team.
