Coach James Nelson is in his 3rd year as the Head Junior Varsity Football Coach, and Throwing Events Coach at Pacifica High School, and his 4th year overall coaching both sports. He has led the Triton Junior Varsity Team to back to back Pacific View League Championships. James graduated from Buena High School in 2008, where he was an All-League and All-County Lineman, and a CIF Qualifier in the Shot Put. After high school, he went on to play and compete in football and track & field at Ventura College, where he was named the Rookie of the Year and was a Western State Conference Qualifier in 4 different throwing events. He graduated in 2009, and earned an athletic scholarship to play football at the University of Texas at El Paso. There, he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies in 2012, and was named to the All-Conference U.S.A Team. After college, James went on to spend some time playing professional football. He spent 2013 in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Dallas Cowboys, then 2014 with the professional arena football team the Pittsburg Power. James is currently a full time substitute teacher at Pacifica, and is earning his Teaching Credentials with National University to become a full time teacher.
