Tritons Open Season at Don Green Invitational

March 2nd and 3rd, 2018 - Moorpark High School

 

The Pacifica Track and Field Team opened up their 2018 season at the Don Green Invitational in Moorpark, California. The Triton Distance and Middle Distance athletes competed Friday night in the distance portion of the Invitational. While the Sprinters, Jumpers, Hurdlers, and Throwers competed in the Saturday portion of the Invitational.

Poor weather conditions did not stop the Tritons from strong performances all around the Track and Field.

Boys Junior/Senior Division

Senior Cyrus Prudhomme was 3rd overall in the 200m dash cruising to a personal best of 22.45 in cold conditions. He also ran a strong legs in the 6th place 4 x 400m relay team and 8th place 4 x 100m relay team with teammates Edgar Romero, Khaleed BensonFabian Lupian, and Sebastian Cervantes. The 4 x 800m relay team Brian Palomar, Ruben Ruiz, Isaac Cho and Jamshid Atashbar were 6th place overall in a competitive field. Ruben was also 6th place overall in the Long Jump. Senior Jacob Guzman was 11th place overall in the Shot Put. Junior Paul Blevins was 12th overall in the 300m hurdles. Senior Victor Santander was 8th overall in the 110m hurdles. 

Girls Junior/Senior Division

Senior Kierra Sherrod was 2nd place overall in the 300m hurdles and 3rd overall in the 100m hurdles while running strong legs in the 6th place 4 x 100m relay team and the 3rd place 4 x 400m relay team that included teammates Dajshai Bennett, Anissa Cason, Gillian Serate, and Jasmine Guerrero. Dajshai was 7th place overall in the 100m dash, while Samantha Tamayo was 16th. Jasmine was 15th overall in the 400m dash. 

Boys Freshmen/Sophomore Division

Sophomores dominated the sprints and jumps events during Saturday's competition. Tritons notched 5 of the top 10 spots in the 100 meter dash. Malik Sherrod was 1st place overall, Michael Johnson was 2nd, Savonne Farmer was 6th, Kyrie Wilson was 7th, and Isaiah Moon was 10th. The relay team consisting of Malik, Michael, Savonne, and Kyrie dominated the 4 x 100m relay with a 1st place overall finish that would have placed 4th in the Jr/Sr division. Malik was also 2nd place overall in the 200m dash and 3rd in the 110m hurdles. Kyrie placed 2nd place overall in the Long Jump with a jump of 20 feet 8 inches, just 6 inches from the school record and would have placed 3rd in the Jr/Sr division. He also placed 5th in the 200m dash. Isaiah was the Triple Jump winner with a leap of 36 feet 4 inches and was 9th in the Long Jump. Nohl Williams placed 4th overall in the High Jump. Freshmen Christian Alejandre was 5th overall in the Discus and 6th in the Shot Put. Danilo Juarez was 12th in the Discus. Alejandro Gonzales was 12th in the 1600m run.

Girls Freshmen/Sophomore Division

Sophomores Sierra Hill and Denise Cardona were 14th and 18th overall in the Shot Put. Denise was also 15th overall in the Discus. Anissa Cason was 19th overall in the 100m dash.
